Air Jordan XIV – The Ferrari-Inspired Air Jordans

The Air Jordan XIV (14) was released in 1998. At the time, Michael Jordan owned a Ferrari 550M. His Ferrari was used as the inspiration for the Air Jordan XIV. They would be the very last pair of Air Jordans that Michael Jordan would wear in the NBA before he retired a second time.

Innovative Design

The Air Jordan XIV was another innovative sneaker designed by Tinker Hatfield. The Air Jordan XIV was meant to mimic a high performance ride. It was made of full-grain leather and featured Nike’s Zoom Air Technology as well as medial air vents for increased breathability. The Air Jordan XIV were meant to be a tribute to Michael Jordan. The Air Jordan XIV was the first to feature laces with metal tips. The Metal-tipped laces would be repeated with the Air Jordan XV as well as the Air Jordan XVI. Many Air Jordan fans believe the Air Jordan XIV to be the most comfortable Air Jordan ever built.

Only Worn Once

The Air Jordan XIV was only worn once by Michael Jordan and they instantly became legendary. Michael wore the Air Jordan XIV during his final game as a Chicago Bull. The Air Jordan XIV’s were immortalized by Michael Jordan hitting the game-winning shot over Bryon Russell of the Utah Jazz to give the Chicago Bulls their another NBA championship.

The Most Jumpman symbol for any Air Jordan

The Air Jordan XIV featured a total of fourteen Jumpman Symbols, which is the most for any Air Jordan Shoe. Each pair had a total of seven Jumpan symbols. For each shoe, the symbols were located at:

1 on the Ferrari-like shield
2 on the metal-tip laces
1 on the sole
1 on the back
1 on the front
1 on the insole

Goodbye Chicago

The Air Jordan XIV was the last model Air Jordan Michael Jordan wore in a Chicago Bulls jersey. Five color ways were released and three low-top versions were available when it was originally released.
