The Air Jordan XXX was once again designed by Nike’s legendary desginer, Tinker Hatfield. Tinker is the man behind many of the most memorable Air Jordan silhouettes. Hatfield first started his work on the shoe in February, 2015, at the request of Michael Jordan himself. His design began with a riff on an infamous photo of Michael Jordan from the 1988 Dunk Contest, which evolved into a galactic figure known as “Mister Cosmos” through Hatfield’s handiwork.
From there, he brought in fellow designer Mark Smith to flesh out the silhouette, and the two collaborated on bringing the Jordan 30 to life.
On the technology side, the shoe has FlightSpeed traction on bottom, a lightweight upper that combines knit and woven materials and a knit cradle to keep the wearer’s foot in place.
