Air Jordan XVII – The Jazz-Inspired Air Jordan
The Air Jordan XVII (17) is once again designed by Wilson Smith. Michael Jordan is heavily involved in the design of the Air Jordan XVII. The Air Jordan XVII design was said to be inspired by three things: “The fine details from an Aston Martin, the smooth lines and flow of a jazz solo and the long Air Jordan history of innovations in style”. Reinforced Midsole
The Air Jordan XVII featured a reinforced midsole which provided a very stable and sturdy chassis for the shoe. The reinforced chassis was so popular that it was replicated on the Air Jordan XXIII. Along with the reinforced midsole, the Air Jordan XVIII featured a full-length composite shank plate, a TPU heel stabilizer along with a hell and forefoot Tuned Air.
A Removable Midfoot Cover
The Air Jordan XVII featured a removable midfoot cover that could be used to hide or show the laces. The removable midfoot cover was quite similar to the Air Jordan XVI‘s gaiter/shroud.
The Most Expensive Air Jordan
The Air Jordan XVII is known as the most expensive Air Jordan to date. With a price tag of over US$200, it featured a Jumpman-embossed metal case which held the sneakers and a CD-ROM containing the Air Jordan XVII song.
The Second and Final Comeback
Michael joined the Washington Wizards as President of Basketball Operations in January of 2000. On September 25th 2001 he resigned his post and signs as a player. Michael Jordan once again returns to the game of basketball. But this time, as a member of the Washington Wizards. As a tribute to Michael Jordan’s recent retirement, the sole’s design is based on a golf course. Four mid-top color variations and three low-top variations of the Air Jordan XVII were available during its original release.Air Jordan XVII In The Media
