Air Jordan XIX – The Black Mamba
The Air Jordan XIX was released in 2004 and was inspired by The Black Mamba. The Black Mamba is the most dangerous snake on earth. The fear that the Black Mamba strikes was the reason why it was chosen as the inspiration for the Air Jordan XIX. Although Tate Kuerbis was once again the designer for the Air Jordan XIX, he received a lot of support from other Jordan Brand designers such as Jason Mayden, Wilson Smith, Josh Heard and Suzette Henri. Once again, innovative materials were used to create this very supportive and lightweight Air Jordan shoe that was a perfect combination of sport and style.
Tech Flex Technology
The Air Jordan XIX used technology that had never been used on any other sneaker before: Tech Flex. Tech Flex is an industrial braided sleeve that stretches well and has tremendous support. It is mostly used in the automotive industry. Tech Flex technology made the Air Jordan XIX very breathable and extremely lightweight. This dynamic material allowed the upper to be extremely flexible, without sacrificing support or light weight. The Air Jordan XIX also features double-stacked heel and full-length Zoom Air units.
The Most Comfortable Air Jordan
Asides from tech Flex technology, the Air Jordan XIX featured a carbon fiber shank, phylon midsole, full length Zoom Air unit, patent leather toe box, Velcro heel straps and plastic lace locks. A double stack Air Sole unit in the heel combined with the Zoom Air bag made the Air Jordan XIX extremely comfortable. Many regard the XIX as the most comfortable Air Jordan.
Air Jordan XIX SE
Similar to the + editions of the Air Jordan XVI and Air Jordan XVII as well as the modified XVIII.5, the Air Jordan XIX was modified. However, modified versions of the Air Jordan XIX were known as SE or Special Edition.
Some More Original Packaging
The Air Jordan XIX once again featured a unique packaging. This time, the box was divided in two slots. Each slot contained a shoe neatly packaged in net shoe-bags.
Team Jordan Players
This time around, Michael Jordan’s retirement was final. So Team Jordan recruited NBA stars like Ray Allen, Carmelo Anthony, Jason Kidd and others to promote the new Air Jordan. In 2004, the original XIX release featured five color ways. Three Regional Pack colors were part of the five colorways. Four low-top models were released and four SE models were later released.Air Jordan XIX In The Media
